In July 1991 Brian Mason established the “Brian Mason Scientific & Technical Trust, which is incorporated under the Charitable Trusts Act 1957 and registered as a Charitable Trust. The Trust has a mission to advance scientific and technical objectives in Canterbury and Westland, New Zealand.
Applications for Grants
To achieve the mission, the Brian Mason Trust allocates in the order of $100 000 to around 30 projects each year. The Trust meets twice each year, in May and November, and applications are due 1 month prior to the meeting.
Funded Projects
Projects cover a wide range of subjects and activities, including creation of interactive exhibits and experiences, research projects on New Zealand’s flora, fauna, landscape and geology. The Trust does not support medical projects or salaries for employed staff.
